Wandsworth Town Hall Wedding Photographer | Nima + Karan

Wandsworth Town Hall was designed in 1930. His Late Royal Highness The Duke of Kent laid the foundation stone, and the building was officially opened by Queen Mary in 1937. Steeped in local history, this venue is popular with couples looking for a simple yet elegant venue in which to tie the knot.

The simple yet classic design of this building is in keeping with the local architecture. Each of the five boroughs represented at the town hall, are depicted on the exterior of the building that runs along the High Street. Inside, the main entrance hall and imposing staircase are paved with marble. The rooms are elegantly panelled with English brown oak. Wandsworth Town Hall offers a beautiful location for ceremonies, and the courtyard outside can be used for photographs.

Nima and Karan asked me to photograph both their ceremony at Wandsworth Town Hall, and their wedding celebration the next day. As is traditional in some Asian cultures, the wedding celebrations were split over two days. You can see the second day’s photos in another blog post.

At Wandsworth Town Hall, Nimia and Karan had their official wedding and signed the wedding register making them officially man and wife. I was invited to capture this ceremony for their wedding album. The intimate ceremony, which featured just their closest friends and family, was a beautiful celebration of Nima and Karan’s love for each other.

One of my favourite photos of the ceremony, is of Nima and Karan hand in hand in front of the registrar. As he reads from the book, Nima and Karan are gazing at each other, and Nima is laughing. For all of the guests, the service was very special and represented two families coming together, as well as the love binding these two individuals together. I think this photo shows the happiness and fun of the day, as well as capturing Nima and Karan’s personalities and love for one another.

We decided to make the most of the impressive marble entrance hall and elegant decor by taking some posed photographs after the ceremony. Nima wanted some photographs of her in her wedding dress, and we got some beautiful ones in front of the dark oak walls. The town hall has beautiful tall windows that let natural light stream in, making it a perfect venue for photos. There’s a great photo of Nima in Karan’s arms, as the sunlight bounces off them into the darkened room.

There is a beautiful photograph of Nima, Karan and all of their guests stood on the marble staircase. The grand staircase, with its golden balustrade, made the perfect location for a shot of the full wedding party in their colourful traditional attire. It’s easy to see why the iconic staircase is a popular location for Wandsworth Town Hall wedding photography.

I was also the official photographer for Nima and Karan’s wedding party the next day, although this can be found in another blog post because there were so many wonderful photos to share. It was a really lovely service, and I was looking forward to the next day of more traditional celebrations too.

Reportage Wedding Photography at Wandsworth Town Hall

As a London Wedding Photographer I specialise in reportage style wedding photography, and am able to truly capture the essence of the day this way. Rather than telling your guests where to stand and how to look, I will stand back and photograph the day as it happens. This enables me to capture moments that you may miss, because of course weddings are busy events and you won’t be able to be everywhere at once, but I can capture the things you miss.

I also offer posed, group and artistic images for your wedding album. I am happy to accommodate your needs, whatever they might be. I love taking beautiful photos, capturing emotions, and creating last memories. Please get in touch to check my availability and talk through the details of your special day.

These are beautiful, especially for a municipal building. I am shooting there tomorrow and hope to do as well as this. Thank you for sharing.
