I love capturing weddings at Rivervale Barn, because the couple’s personality and style is able to stand out so clearly from the surroundings. Nicola and Carl had chosen a contemporary, fresh and natural wedding venue, and wanted a wedding album to match. Nicola and Carl are such a wonderful couple, the whole day was filled with love and laughter. As you can see from the photos, at least one of them is laughing on almost every photo – they were, without a doubt, one of the happiest couples I have ever photographed. I started my working day in the bridal suite, taking photos of Nicola and her bridesmaids getting ready for the ceremony. The room made a beautiful setting for the images, the wooden beams and stone flooring look beautiful with the natural light flooding in through the windows. When she was dressed and ready, I took some photos of Nicola in her wedding dress, they are beautiful images of a confident bride.

Nicola and Carl wanted a mix of photography styles for their album. They wanted some posed show stopping images to frame on their walls, but they also wanted the documentary images to capture the day as it happened.
The photographs of the ceremony itself are amongst my favourite of the day. Nicola and Carl are such a happy couple, and were overjoyed on the day, there was plenty of laughter throughout the ceremony as this couple said I do. Carl’s ring was stuck on his finger at one point, and he needed the help of a guest’s lip balm to get it off. This moment, with both bride and groom laughing, as Carl attempts to remove the ring, is one I’m sure they will remember forever. One of the things that makes weddings unique, and that brings the personality of the bride and groom out during weddings, is the little mishaps and the unexpected events. After the ceremony, I took some photos of the whole congregation, so that Nicola and Carl will be able to look back at who was there as they promised to love each other forever. Then, as the bride and groom mingled, I took reportage style photographs of the guests enjoying their drinks in the courtyard. I continued to take photos throughout the day, capturing guests laughing over old photos, family moments and the all important first dance.
Nicola and Carl seemed to grin from ear to ear for most of the day, especially when they were with their young son who features on a number of the photographs. They were such a charming family, and I wish them a lifetime of happiness, I had such a fantastic day documenting their wedding.
