Lancaster London Hotel boasts one of the best views in London. The hotel’s large windows make use of the idyllic surroundings, and you can say ‘I do’ with Hyde Park as your backdrop. As the sun goes down, you can dance the night away with your guests, in front of London’s famous skyline. Since Nadia and Marcelo had chosen such a beautiful location for their wedding, I decided to make the most of this in their wedding photography in London. The couple wanted a number of posed shots, capturing them as a couple, and them with their family and friends, taken throughout the day. Utilising the best of the hotel’s stunning scenery, I was able to take photos that captured the elegance and grandeur of the hotel. I love the photo of Nadia and Marcela dancing alone in the marble corridor. The marble columns, reaching into the foreground, and the newlyweds entwined in the distanced, is such a romantic image. Another photo I particularly like from this collection, is the image of Nadia and Marcela sharing an intimate moment in a darkened corridor. The space around them is dark, but they are lit by the sunlight pouring through the windows. Weddings are usually a pretty busy affair, with lots of guests vying for attention, so it’s important for the newlyweds to take a few moments out to focus on one another. Nadia and Marcelo chose to get married at Lancaster London Hotel because of its location, and so they wanted photographs that would make the most of this asset. We decided to take a short walk and capture some images in the local area. There are some beautiful photos of the happy couple sharing a quiet moment in the idyllic setting close to nature, but with London’s iconic towers and grand architecture looming in the background.

As well as the posed photographs, I took a number of reportage style shots throughout the day. I like to capture the raw emotions of the day, and the happiness that the couple feel on their wedding day. Reportage style photography allows me to capture things as they happen, and to freeze in time a special event to be remembered. The photograph of the first kiss, with all their friends and family in the background, captures the excitement that their loved ones felt on this special occasion. The image of them walking outside, as smiling guests throw confetti high into the air, captures the celebration and joy surrounding this union. The reportage photographs taken during the wedding breakfast, document the day as it progressed into evening. All of the special moments – the speeches, the laughter, and the cake – are captured and will be remembered forever. There are quite a few breath-taking shots of the happy couple enjoying some happiness in each other’s arms. I like these photos because they are natural, and I was able to capture some private moments in a way that I hope Nadia and Marcelo will treasure forever.
